By The Numbers Statistics – 7/25/24 Edition

Please note this was originally posted on Substack.

I thought it was so totally fascinating that I decided to do a series on this publication I call “By the Numbers.” What is it about? This is basically me sharing some statistics about the podcast with you!

Okay, but why?

I have no idea how many of you would actually be curious about this, but I think it’s interesting learning a bit more about the people who are listening to this podcast! Now granted I don’t know any personal data like names or anything. I do however know a few interesting things that have some importance to me.

My download statistics based on July 25, 2024.

Bear in mind, I actually hosted this podcast on Acast and only moved it to Red Circle in June. That’s why even though I have done 17 episodes, my download count is under 400. Actually if you add up the downloads I got while with Acast (316 downloads), the show actually hit 678. This means each episode has averaged just under 40 downloads/episode.

Downloads by location

It’s not too surprising, but most of my downloads/streams were from my fellow Americans! It’s a pretty well-known fact that Americans make up a pretty large percentage of podcast listeners globally. Podcasting as we know it was practically invented in the US and Americans were pretty early adapters.

It’s the countries other than the US that surprised me. I was shocked to discover a number of downloads I got were from German listeners! It’s also interesting that I got some listeners from the UK, Brazil, Australia, and Spain.

These results are pretty consistent with the downloads I get with each episode. I just think it’s really fascinating. I’m actually curious how people discovered my podcast. Hm… perhaps that should be the next poll I run? Heh!
