What is this episode about?
In this episode I talk about the North! Understanding the history of the North really does explain a great deal about the people who live there. It’s pretty fascinating how the people of the North really identify and maintain many aspects of First Men culture. One notable thing about the First Men is that they worship the Old Gods. A majority of people who worship the Old Gods are in the North.
Also in this episode, I discuss some of the notable houses in the North. There are many houses that get mentioned in the novels. However not every house does enough significant things that I felt would be worth spending time to talk about. There are some interesting entries on Westeros.org if you’re curious. Though as I always tell listeners, be careful as there’s spoilers if you search.
I especially spent time in this particular episode talking about house Stark. The Starks are practically synonymous with The North. It’s speculated that house Stark’s history goes back 8,000 years to the Long Night. I personally wish that there was a family tree as intricate as the Targaryen one. I suppose it’s rather difficult to create. I’d personally be fascinated to see it.
What do you think?
So what do you think about the North? What do you think about the episode? Please leave a comment, subscribe to this newsletter, and share with fellow fans of Westeros! I’m happy and eager to talk about lore with all of you.
I’m really hoping to hit 49 subscribers to this newsletter. Why? Well I’ll be making some really interesting and fun things I was thinking about doing. However I won’t actually do those things unless I get enough subscribers to this newsletter first.
I also hope that more listeners participate in the poll. What poll? I set up a poll for listeners to let me know what they’d like me to talk about in Season 2 of the podcast! This season of the podcast will end with the House of the Dragon Season 2 season finale. Season 2 of the podcast will be released in October 2024. A really short hiatus!
